A few words about Dhaka Art Circle
Dhaka Art Circle (DAC) represents a small group of painters with similar sensibilities, based in Dhaka. We have the pleasure of stating that DAC is now fifteen years old. Given our situation, it is pleasantly surprising that the group has stayed together and worked together over this period of time.
Our activities are humble. Our effort is directed towards continuous and steady progress.
We are proud that a number of eminent painters of the country are with us, without whose effort and dedication we would not have come this far. We are also grateful to the art-lovers and connoisseurs who have extended their valuable support to us. Unfortunately, we have lost two of our most resourceful members– artists Golam Sarwar and Shamsul Islam Nizami. In the past, we dedicated two shows to their memory. We also dedicated one large exhibition titled Paintings 2002 held in Chittagong Club, to the memory of versatile painter Rashid Chowdhury. DAC salutes his selfless dedication for the art movement of Bangladesh; without him, it would not have been as vigorous and lustrous. We have chalked out programmes to honour some of our senior art critics without whose efforts and inspiration our art would not have been popular at home and abroad. We wish to acknowledge our debt to them.
Lastly, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Bengal Foundation and Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts, not only for this exhibition, but also for their relentless efforts to promote Bangladesh’s art and culture.
