Bengal Films Programme

Documentaries

Bengal Foundation has always recognised the value in the documentation of cultural practices. The Films Programme was one of the first initiatives in the country working with documentaries, and it produced a number of short films on festivals; art camps; and exceptional cultural icons, capturing their philosophies, work processes and environment. Initially the Programme produced documentaries on the sculptor Novera Ahmed, painters Qayyum Chowdhury, Nilufar Yasmin, Murtaja Baseer, Rokeya Sultana and Monirul Islam, among others. But in recent years, it has also been working with folk music, architecture amongst many other aspects of the Bengali culture.
