Bengal Foundation has been an active supporter and producer of cinema since its inception. The films programme produces short documentaries and supports young and promising filmmakers in Bangladesh.

Bengal Film Development Forum was launched with the intention of encouraging promising filmmakers and directors to make their first or second full length feature or documentary film.

Bengal Foundation has always recognised the value in the documentation of cultural practices. The Films Programme was one of the first initiatives in Bangladesh working with documentaries; and it produced a number of short films on festivals, art camps, folk music, architecture and cultural icons.
