Bengal Foundation mourns the passing of Rabiul Husain

We are deeply saddened by the passing of renowned poet-architect Rabiul Husain.

Husain studied architecture at BUET, and authored over 25 books of poetry, essay, novel and children’s books. Throughout his career, he served as President of The Institute of Architects, Bangladesh (IAB) for four terms. He was Vice-Chairman of ARCASIA (Architects Regional Council of Asia), Vice-President of CAA (Commonwealth Association of Architects) and served as President of SAARCH (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation of Architects).

He was a lifetime member of Bangla Academy, and also served at the children’s cultural organisation Kendriyo Kochi Kachar Mela, National Poetry Council, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum, and International Film Critic Association of Bangladesh.

Husain was honoured with the Ekushe Padak, Bangla Academy Award, National Poetry Council Award, IAB Award and Lifetime Achievement Award at the Berger Award for Excellence in Architecture ceremony.
