Bengal Foundation mourns the passing of artist Kalidas Karmakar

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Kalidas Karmakar.

Karmakar was born in January, 1946, in Faridpur. He completed a two-year pre-degree course at Institute of Fine Arts at the University of Dhaka, and went on to complete his graduation at the Government College of Arts and Crafts in Kolkata, in 1969. Karmakar went on to become a renowned artist, and his works have been exhibited at numerous exhibitions around the world. His solo show Alluvial Dream & Reality (2007) and Alluvial Diary (2009) were exhibited at the Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts.

Karmakar was honoured with the Shilpakala Padak (2016) and the Ekushey Padak (2018) by the Government of Bangladesh for his contribution to the realm of art.

Kalidas Karmakar passed away on 18 October, 2019, at the age of 73.
