Bengal Films & Documentaries Programme
Bengal Foundation has been an active supporter and producer of cinema since its early days. Starting in the year 2000, the Foundation has produced and commissioned short documentaries on festivals, art camps, and exceptional cultural icons, capturing their philosophies, work processes and environment. This includes documentaries on the sculptor Novera Ahmed, painters Qayyum Chowdhury, Nilufar Yasmin, Murtaja Baseer, Rokeya Sultana and Monirul Islam, among others.
Bengal Cinema Development Forum (BCDF) was introduced in 2013 as a platform for young and upcoming filmmakers. The Forum focuses on supporting young, promising filmmakers and directors to make their first or second full-length feature or documentary movies. It has organised workshops and seminars in order to improve the quality of screenplays, develop technical knowledge and skills with an aim to benefit the film industry as a whole.
