Siba Prasad Kar Choudhury
Choudhury was born in 1944. After graduating from the Government College of Arts & Crafts, Kolkata, he studied design at NID under the Scandinavian designer Helena Parhintupa. Choudhury went on to study graphic art under Geoffrey Bowman at San-Jose State University, California. A member of the Calcutta Painters, Choudhury was, like many of his compatriots, drawn to nature and landscapes. He achieved renown in the seventies for his distinctive style of abstraction. He participated in many important group shows in India and abroad including all- India exhibitions organised by Lalit Kala Akademi in New Delhi, Academy of Fine Arts in Kolkata, Birla Academy of Art and Culture in Kolkata, Chandigarh Museum in Punjab and Bharat Bhavan Biennale in Bhopal, India. Siba Prasad Kar Choudhury is a professor at Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan.
