Rafiqul Shuvo

b. 1982, Dhaka, Bangladesh

In recent years, Rafiqul Islam Shuvo has worked on several new avenues of expression, including sculptural installations, painting, video and photography. His artworks mainly focus on the ontological influence of time, responsible for the evolution of human behaviour in a geographical periphery. Unexpected pauses, sudden cuts, long silences, juxtaposed editing and tendency of repetition  creates a certain cinematic style in Shuvo’s videos. His recent works investigates the influences of synthetic and organic outcomes of the human evolution. Shuvo earned his BFA and MFA, in sculpture, from the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University. He is the founder of ‘OGCJMart’ Art Collective, and also curated a group show entitled ‘Only God Can Judge Me’ in 2012.
