Mokhlesur Rahman

Mokhlesur Rahman was born in Shariatpur, Bangladesh, in 1961. He graduated in printmaking from the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, in 1986. Known for his sensitive portrayals of landscapes in large woodcuts and paintings, Rahman won the Grand Prize in the 10th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh in 2002. He participated in the Bangladesh pavilion of the Venice Biennale in 2013, with eight other artists. Later in 2019, he and Viviana Vannucci curated Bangladesh’s participation at the Venice Biennale in 2019. A freelance artist and printmaker, Mokhlesur Rahman lives and works in Dhaka.
