Kabir Ahmed Masum Chisty works in the premise of fine art and animation. He was born in Narayanganj in 1976 and obtained an MFA in sculpture from the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka, in 1998. His participation in major group exhibitions include Parables: Pavilion of Bangladesh, 54th International Art Exhibition, La Biennale di Venezia, 2011;14th Asian Art Biennale by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in 2010; Britto New Media Festival at Bengal Gallery, 2009; 1mile² Dhaka by Visiting Arts UK and Britto Arts Trust, Bangladesh at Bulbul Lalitkala Academy, Old Dhaka, 2009; Off the Beaten Path, South Asian Artists’ Exhibition at Bengal Gallery, Dhaka, 2008, Contemporary Sculpture Exhibition, organized by Vashkar at Alliance Française de Dacca, Dhaka, 2007; Group Art Exhibition at Alliance Française de Dacca, Dhaka, 2005; Movement will become Sculpture, organized by Britto Arts Trust, 2004; Transformation, a group show on metal casting at Alliance Française de Dacca, Dhaka, 2003; Contemporary Sculpture of Bangladesh, organized by Vashkar, Dhaka, 2002; Stone Carving Exhibition at the Jindal Art Foundation, Karnataka, India, 2002; Exposer 7, Nepal Art Council, Kathmandu, 1999. He made consecutive appearances at the National Art Exhibition, Young Artist’s Exhibition and Asian Art Biennales, Dhaka from 1997 to 2003 which are bi- annually organized by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. He has also taken part in workshops 1 Mile² Dhaka, a two month long public art project by Britto Arts Trust Bangladesh and Visiting Arts UK; Across the Street, Video Art Workshop and Image Manipulation Workshop by Britto Arts Trust in 2009; Theertha International Artist Workshop, Sri Lanka, 2008; Sutra international Artist workshop 2007, Nepal; Video Art Workshop by Britto Arts Trust, Bangladesh in 2006; 2005 Script-writing & Animation by UNICEF, Bangladesh; Britto International Artists’ workshop 2003 and 2005 by Britto Arts Trust; Movement Will Become Sculpture by Britto Arts Trust, 2004; Stone Carving Workshop by Jindal Art foundation Karnataka, India, 2002; Workshop on Music, Bit, Rhythm and Time in Puppetry in Dhaka, 1999. In 2009 he attended the HK International Sculpture Symposium in Hong Kong. He received an award in 2005 for Best Short Film in International Short & Individual Film Festival in Bangladesh. Masum is the Founder-Trustee of Britto Arts Trust.
