Taslima’s first engagement with art began when she was employed as a domestic help by artist Alka Mathur. She was inspired by Alka’s technique of using layers in her work. Encouraged by Alka to try her hand at it, Taslima gradually made sense of it all and created her own collages. Over time Taslima developed a personal style and vocabulary. Her compositions are studies in texture, tone and colour that merge in a complex narrative.
