A group art exhibition ShohorNama was opening on 2nd March, 2018 at the Daily Star-Bengal Arts Precinct at 6pm.
The three month-long Dhaka city based art project ShohorNama is curated by Mahbubur Rahman and organized by Britto Arts Trust, ShohorNama was a part of a larger project encompassing six Asian cities ‘Topography of Mirror Cities’ curated by Sandy Hsiu-Chih Lo from Taiwan.
Bengal Arts Programme was the exhibition partner of the final exhibition of Shohornama that will showcase fresh works of five artists from Bangladesh and Taiwan and the archival materials of the previous displays of the various art projects. A total of 50 artists and 4 filmmakers participated in the entire ShohorNama project where the artists explored how they respond to Dhaka city through different mediums.
The exhibition was held until March 16, every day from 11am to 7pm, simultaneously at two venues: Daily Star-Bengal Arts Precinct and Gyantapas Abdur Razzaq Bidyapeeth.
A Conversation on ShohorNama presenting dialogues among the curators and four artists as well as two performances was held on 3rd March at 5pm at Gyantapas Abdur Razzaq Bidyapeeth.
The first public display of ShohorNama- Moving Object was held between January 30 and February 10 at Britto Space. It was an outcome of a three-week workshop participated by ten artists who created kinetic sculptures. Another 3 day long public display of ShohorNama which featured live art, film screening and graffiti on garbage containers was held from 03-05 February at Shahbag and the Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka premises.
