Sheikh Afzal

Belonging to the genre of painters who have successfully employed the realistic mode, Afzal’s compositions focus on the dialogue of the material and the spiritual world. True to his unique metier, his paintings for this exhibition were figurative and in the realistic mode. Afzal (b. 1960, Jhenaidah) graduated in art in 1984 and completed higher studies in Japan on a Monbusho scholarship (MFA, University of Tsukuba, 1993). His awards include the Shorei Sho, Central Museum, Tokyo (1994), Honourable Mention in the 11th (1994) and 12th National Art Exhibition (1996), and the Uni Group Award in the 13th National Art Exhibition (2000). His works have been widely exhibited in Japan and in Bangladesh. Afzal is a member of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dhaka University.
