Perception
Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts hosted a twelve day-long solo painting exhibition of artist Abdul Muqtadir titled Perception with the inaugural ceremony on 6th March 2008 at 6 pm at Bengal Shilpalaya.
Eminent educationist and National Professor Kabir Chowdhury was present as Chief Guest and inaugurated the exhibition. Renowned artists Mustafa Monwar and Rafiqun Nabi were present as special guests.
The luxuriously reclining cat, the innocent soaring kite, the smiling face of a girl are like motifs in Muqtadir’s paintings that radiate an inner aura of peace. The lighted area and the worked over background enlivens the artwork, freeing it from the shackles of a specific time and query.
Muqtadir (b. 1936, Dhaka) graduated in graphic design in 1960. He pursued the promotion and development of traditional crafts during fourteen years of service at the Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation. Later he joined Bitopi, a leading advertising agency. Muqtadir’s 8th solo show demonstrated his deeply spiritual journey as an artist.
