Of Angels and Chariots
For many viewers used to painterly conventions, Fida Haq’s work came as a surprise. Not many Bangladeshi artists were at that time working in the ‘new media’ that Haq had chosen for himself. For his first exhibition in Dhaka, Haq combined his skills in photography, computer graphics, installation and artisanal talent with the painterly qualities of rickshaw art to produce a versatile and demanding vocabulary. Based in Sydney, Australia, Haq (b. 1964, Chapainawabganj) took up a serious engagement with art not too long ago- but the outcome is promising and provocative.
