The exhibition held in Art Front Gallery, Japan, indicated the new territory that Kibria was entering while retaining a link with the path already traversed. Kibria’s work is a testimony to minimalist purity shedding excess colours to achieve what poet Juan Ramon Jimenez has termed ‘naked poetry’.
Kibria (b. 1929, Birbhum, West Bengal) is considered a forerunner of the modernist movement in painting in Bangladesh. He passed away in June 2011.
