Juneer Kibria’s works in his first solo exhibition were experimental. He created a juxtaposition of stylistic elements in a series of abstract, yet emotional pieces that focus on the fragility of memory. Unlike the typical media used for painting, he used encaustic (wax and oil paint), collages of paper, wood, and resin to create layers of textures. His juxtaposition of permanence and fragility, is somewhat like memory. The way he applies encaustic to create an abrasive, rock-like texture mimics a fossilized environment.
Juneer (b. 1980, Dhaka) holds a degree in Printmaking from Wittenberg University, Ohio (2003). He received the Ralston P Thomas Award for excellence in fine arts from Wittenberg University (2003). A freelance artist, Juneer lives and works in the USA.
