Mohammad Eunus tends to document the discontent and fear of our times. His work voices an existential dilemma with an underpinning of hope. Despite his long stay in Japan, Eunus is little influenced by the tender beauty of Japanese art.
Eunus was born in 1954 in Thakurgaon. After graduating from the Institute of Fine Arts, Dhaka, in 1978, he did a master degree in Japan, from the Tama University. His work has been exhibited widely. He has received many awards and citations notable among which are the Best Award in the 8th Young Artists Art Exhibition, Dhaka (1988), Grand Prize, Kudo Art Show, Tokyo (1989), 3rd Prize in the First Islamic Art Biennale in Tehran (2001), Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy Award in the 15th National Art Exhibition, Dhaka (2004), Emar International Art Symposium Award, UAE (2005), and prizes in the 13th (1998) and 11th (1994) National Art Exhibitions organized by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Eunus is a member of the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka.
