Britain-Bangladesh Art Exhibition
Bengal Foundation and the British Council joined hands and mounted an exhibition of selected works from the Bengal Foundation collection, by artists who had studied or exhibited (or both) in the UK. The list invariably began with Shilpacharya Zainul Abedin who exhibited in England in the 1950s. The exhibition also included a sizeable representation of young artists who, at some point in their careers, had received support from the British government.
The exhibition created a new understanding of the many sources of inspiration of Bangladesh art and demonstrated its creativity, variety and energy.
