Long Distance Information

Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts and British Council has organised “Long Distance Information”, a sculpture exhibition of the works of Henry Moore and other contemporary British sculptors on Monday, with the the inaugural ceremony on 28 January 2008, at 5.30 pm.

Dr. Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, Honourable Advisor of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, was present as Chief Guest and inaugurated the exhibition. Mr. Duncan Norman, Deputy British High Commissioner to Bangladesh and Mr. Abedur Rahman Sikder, Head of Marketing & Corporate Affairs of BRAC Bank, were present as special guests.

Long Distance Information, a small touring exhibition drawn from British Council’s own collection, told the story of how British sculpture evolved in the 20th century keeping pace with time and globalization and the extraordinary energy and enthusiasm it found in new forms of expression.
The exhibition displayed the works of Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, Anthony Caro, Barry Flanagan, Bill Woodrow, Richard Long, Mona Hatoum, Michael Craig-Martin, Richard Wentworth, Jane Simpson, Mariele Neudecker, David Shrigley, Simon Patterson, Jim Lambie, Wood and Harrison and Nathan Coley.
