Art discussion in relation to THREADS OF TESTIMONY

Saturday 30 August’14, Bengal Art Lounge hosted an art discussion in relation to the solo exhibition  THREADS  OF  TESTIMONY  by  Dilara  Begum  Jolly.  Mr.  Sajjad  Sharif,  Managing  Editor,  Prothom  Alo  gave  a  30  minute  lecture  which  was  followed  by  Questions  and  Answers  between  the  public  and  Dilara  Begum  Jolly. An  audience  packed  with  artists,  intellectuals  and  art  enthusiasts  made  the  discussion  very  rich  in  content.
Entirely in black and white and displaying several site-‐specific installations, THREADOTESTIMONY strikes the  eye by its formal and visual boldness. The only touches of color  in the exhibition come from the artist’s video-‐ works. DILARA  BEGUM  JOLLY‘s  use  of  the  camera  is  documented  by  her  practice  as  a performance  artist  and  some  of  her  video  works  are  conceived  as  performing  acts  enhanced  by  the  multiple  possibilities  of  digital  recording.  The  results  are  gripping  and  constitute  a  major  addition  to  the  artist’s  cross-‐genre  approach
THREADS OF  TESTIMONY  is  a  new  milestone  in  the  long-‐standing  relationship  between  DILARA  BEGUM  JOLLY  and  Bengal Foundation. Over  the years, Bengal Foundation has had the opportunity to work  with Jolly in countless  group exhibitions, numerousart camps,a successful sol oexhibitiona tBengal Shilpalayain 2006 and durin gthe  production of a documentary film on her work. A gallery dedicated to new artistic researches and formal  expressions, Bengal Art Lounge wish to thank the oratoroftheday M.Sajjad Sharif, the artist Dilara Begum Jolly  and  members  of  the  public  for  their  enthusiastic  participation  to  this  event.

Thanking You
