Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul passes away at 63

Bengal Foundation mourns the passing of Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul.
Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul was a renowned Bangladeshi lyricist, composer and music director. His contribution to the music industry in Bangladesh is immense but he will be remembered most for his iconic composition ‘shob kota janala khule dawna’.
Bulbul’s compositions include a number of works for films, beginning with 1978’s ‘Megh Bijli Badol’. Throughout his career, Bulbul has also released a number of independent albums and composed music for artists such as Samina Chowdhury and Andrew Kishore, amongst others. He served as a judge on the talent show ‘Closeup 1 Tomakei Khujchhe Bangladesh’ for three seasons.
Ahmed Imtiaz Bulbul has been honoured with a number of awards including the Ekushey Padak, National Film Awards and the President’s Award.
He passed away on Tuesday, 22 January 2019.
