Amidst the presence of music aficionados and cultural enthusiasts at the Army Stadium, curtain fell on the 5th night of the 4th Bengal Classical Music Festival 2015 on Wednesday, 2nd December, 2015.

The evening began with the performance of Geetobitan Bangladesh, the troupe of Animesh Bijoy Chowdhury from Sylhet. His co-artists were Kumkum Bhowmik, Noor-E-Afroz, Poresh Chandra Paul, Animesh Bijoy Chowdhury, Ruma Chanda, Shagufta Haque and Subrata Mitra, Sonia Roy. As accompanists, Alamgir Parvez was on pakhawaj and Avijit Kundu on tanpura. The troupe performed Dhamar in Raaga Desh and Chaturanga in Raaga Bhoplai. Dr. Asit Roy coordinated the whole performance. The festival mementos were handed over to the artists by Abul Khair, the Chairman of Bengal Foundation.

The second performance of the evening was Bharatnatyam by Vidushi Alarmel Valli. She performed Rati Sukhsari, Unnuri Vikkinan, Mutvaddura. She also performed Nritya Lohori in Raaga Abhogi. Her accompanists were Saktivel M Subramnian on Percussion, V C Kesavalu on Cymbals, Easwar Ramakrishnan on Violin. Vasudha Ravi was the vocalist. Dr. Gowher Rizvi handed over the festival memento to the artiste.

Following the performance started the closing ceremony of the Bengal Classical Music Festival 2015. Mayor of Dhaka North Annisul Huq, Executive Chairman of Board of Investment Syed A Samad, Honorable Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Gowher Rizvi, Founder and Chairman of BRAC Sir Fazle Hasan Abed and Professor Emeritus of Dhaka University Dr. Anisuzzaman were among the special guests of the closing ceremony.

The closing ceremony started with the speech of Abul Khair, Chairman of Bengal Foundation. He said, “There was a crowd of 56000 people present here last night to enjoy the performances. Most of these people were young. This proves that our future is brighter than our present.”

Anisul Huq said, “Many a people only talk about darkness and despair, but there should be someone to enkindle a light to dispel the darkness. Bengal Foundation is doing that work. So many people gathered together to enjoy chamber music is unparalleled in the history of classical music.”

Expressing his gratitude towards Bengal Foundation, Gowher Rizvi said, “We will start counting days from tomorrow for the next music festival.”

Honorable Indian Ambassador in Bangladesh H.E. Pankaj Saran said, “The success of this classical music festival will pave the path for new cultural initiatives.”

Sir Fazle Hasan Abed remembered the renowned artist late Qayyum Chowdhury and said, “This festival has been enriching our culture.”

Dr. Anisuzzaman said, “Minds of people remain at peace when there are practices of arts and culture in the society. This is incredible that more than 50000 people have gathered here to listen to classical music.” After the closing speeches, Abul Khair handed over honorary mementos to the special guests.

Irshad Khan came on stage after the closing ceremony. He performed Alap, jor alap, jhala and gaut in Raaga Darbari Kanada. He concluded his performances rendering Thumri in Raaga pilu. Pandit Yogesh Shamsi accompanied the artiste with Tabla. Rabindra Sangeet exponent Rezwana Chowdhury Bannya handed over the festival memento to the artiste.

Sameehan Kashalkar was the next artiste.  He performed Raaga Jog and Dadra in Raaga Misra Charukeshi. Suresh Talwalkar accompanied him with Tabla and Ajoy Joglekar with harmonium. Talha Bin Ali and Utpol Roy accompanied him with tanpura. Professor Shamima Parvin handed over the festival memento to the artiste.

Ustad Shujaat Khan performed Raaga Rageshri, alap jor, jhala. He also rendered a ghazal in the composition of Amir Khosru. His accompanists were Amit Choubey and Sapan Parag Anjaria (Tabla).Barrister Mowdud Ahmed handed over the festival memento to him.

Ustad Rashid Khan performed Raaga Yoga Kauns. Then he sang a traditional song: “naina apni piya se lagai re”. He also performed,” yaad piya ki aaye”, the famous thumri in Raaga Vinna Sharoj. His accompanists were: Pandit Subhankar Banerjee (tabla), Ajay Joglekar (harmonium), Murad Ali (sarangi), Krishna Bongane (vocal support) and Avijit Kundu (tanpura). Abul Mal Abdul Muhith, Finance Minister handed over the festival memento to him.

The last performance of the night was Pundit Hariprasad Chaurasia. He played Raaga Kirwani on flute. He also performed Raaga Jait, Rupak and Teen Taal. He concluded his performance with Bhatiyali dhun. His accompanists were Pandit Subhankar Banerjee (Tabla), Debopriya Chatterjee-Ranadive (Flute support), Pandit Bhawani Shankar (Pakhawaj) and Pushpanjoli (tanpura). Festival memento was handed over to him by Asaduzzaman Noor, Cultural Affairs Minister and Abul Khair, Chairman, Bengal Foundation.

The festival is being organized by Bengal Foundation and presented by Square group, supported by BRAC Bank Ltd, powered by Robi Axiata Ltd. ICE Today, ICE Business Times, Bengal Barota are the media partners, with Maasranga TV (Bangladesh) as the broadcast partner. Le Meridien Dhaka is the hospitality partner; Bengal Parampara Sangeetalay and Bengal Digital are associating the event. Overall support provided by Perfect Harmony Production Singapore along with Blues Communications in charge of event management. For the last three years, the Bengal Classical Music Festival has been the largest classical music event in the subcontinent showcasing performances from over two hundred classically trained singers and dancers.

হাজারো দর্শকের করতালির মধ্য দিয়ে পর্দা নামলো বেঙ্গল উচ্চাঙ্গসংগীত উৎসব ২০১৫-

এর পাঁচ দিনব্যাপী বেঙ্গল উচ্চাঙ্গসংগীত উৎসবের পঞ্চম ও সমাপনী দিনের আয়োজন শুরু হয় ১ ডিসেম্বর মঙ্গলবার সন্ধ্যা ৭টায় বনানীর আর্মি স্টেডিয়ামে। পঞ্চম দিনের প্রথম পরিবেশনা ছিলো অনিমেষ বিজয় চৌধুরী এবং তার দলের। দেশ রাগে ধামার ও রাগ ভূপালিতে চতুরঙ্গ পরিবেশন করে সিলেটের দল গীতবিতান বাংলাদেশ। অনিমেষ বিজয় চৌধুরীর সঙ্গে সহশিল্পী হিসেবে ছিলেন কুমকুম ভৌমিক, নূর-ই-আফরোজ, পরেশ চন্দ্র পাল, রুমা চন্দ, শাগুফতা হক, সুব্রত মিত্র, সোনিয়া রায়। পাখওয়াজে ছিলেন আলমগীর পারভেজ। তানপুরায় অভিজিৎ কুন্ডু। সার্বিক তত্ত্বাবধানে ছিলেন অধ্যাপক ড. অসিত রায়। শিল্পীদের হাতে উৎসব স্মারক তুলে দেন বেঙ্গল ফাউন্ডেশনের চেয়ারম্যান আবুল খায়ের। এরপর আলারমেল ভাল্লি পরিবেশন করেন ভরতনাট্যম। তিনি রতি সুখসারী, উন্‌নুনীর ভিক্‌কিনান ও মুত্‌তাভাদ্‌দুরা পরিবেশন করেন। আভোগী রাগে নৃত্যলহরী পরিবেশনের মধ্য দিয়ে আলারমেল ভাল্লি শেষ করেন তার পরিবেশনা। শিল্পীর সঙ্গে পারকাশনে ছিলেন শক্তিভেল এম সুব্রামানিয়ম, সিমবলস বাজিয়েছেন ভি সি কেসাভালু, বেহালাতে ইশ্বর রামাকৃষ্ণণন এবং কণ্ঠসংগীতে সহযোগিতা করেন বসুধা রবি। আলোক নিয়ন্ত্রণে ছিলেন এস বিভেগানানথম। শিল্পীদের হাতে উৎসব স্মারক তুলে দেন মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রীর আন্তর্জাতিক বিষয়ক উপদেষ্টা ড. গওহর রিজভী। এরপর বেঙ্গল উচ্চাঙ্গসংগীত উৎসব ২০১৫-এর আনুষ্ঠানিক সমাপনী ঘোষণা করা হয়। সমাপনী অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন মাননীয় মেয়র আনিসুল হক, ভারতের মান্যবর রাষ্ট্রদূত পংকজ শরণ, বাংলাদেশ বিনিয়োগ বোর্ডের এক্সিকিউটিভ চেয়ারম্যান ড. সৈয়দ এ সামাদ, মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রীর আন্তর্জাতিক বিষয়ক উপদেষ্টা ড. গওহর রিজভী, ব্র্যাকের প্রতিষ্ঠাতা ও চেয়ারপারসন স্যার ফজলে হাসান আবেদ, শিক্ষাবিদ ও ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রফেসর এমেরিটাস ড. আনিসুজ্জামান এবং বেঙ্গল ফাউন্ডেশনের চেয়ারম্যান আবুল খায়ের। অনুষ্ঠানের শুরুতেই বক্তব্য রাখেন বেঙ্গল ফাউন্ডেশনের চেয়ারম্যান আবুল খায়ের। তিনি বলেন, ‘গত বছর সমাপনী দিনে ৫৬ হাজার দর্শক-শ্রোতা এখানে উপস্থিত থেকে অনুষ্ঠান উপভোগ করেছেন। এদের মধ্যে তরুণ শ্রোতার সংখ্যা অনেক বেশি। এ থেকে আমরা ধারণা করতে পারি আমাদের পরবর্তী প্রজন্ম অনেক ভালো কিছু করবে।’ মেয়র আনিসুল হক বলেন, ‘কেবল অন্ধকার ও হতাশার কথা বললেই হয় না, একটি আলো অন্তত জ্বালাতে হয়। এই কাজটিই করছে বেঙ্গল ফাউন্ডেশন। পৃথিবীর আর কোনো দেশে এতো সুন্দরভাবে হাজার হাজার মানুষের এভাবে গান শোনার নজির নেই।’ ড. গওহর রিজভী বেঙ্গল ফাউন্ডেশনকে ধন্যবাদ জানিয়ে বলেন, ‘কালকে থেকে আবার দিনগণনা শুরু হবে পরবর্তী উৎসবের প্রতীক্ষায়।’ পংকজ শরণ শ্রোতাদের ধন্যবাদ জানিয়ে বলেন, ‘উচ্চাঙ্গসংগীত উৎসবের এ সাফল্য নতুন নতুন উদ্যোগ গ্রহণে সাহায্য করবে।’ ফজলে হাসান আবেদ বরেণ্য চিত্রশিল্পী কাইয়ুম চৌধুরীর প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা জানিয়ে তার বক্তব্য শুরু করেন। তিনি বলেন, ‘বেঙ্গল উচ্চাঙ্গসংগীত উৎসব আমাদের সংস্কৃতিকে সমৃদ্ধ করে চলেছে।’ ড. আনিসুজ্জামান বলেন, ‘যেকোনো সুকুমার শিল্পের চর্চা মানুষের মনকে ভালো রাখে। পঞ্চাশ হাজারের বেশি শ্রোতা উচ্চাঙ্গসংগীত শুনছে- এটা অসামান্য ঘটনা।’ বক্তব্য শেষে বেঙ্গল ফাউন্ডেশনের চেয়ারম্যান আবুল খায়ের অতিথিদের হাতে সম্মাননা স্মারক তুলে দেন। সমাপনী অনুষ্ঠানের পর ওস্তাদ ইরশাদ খান পরিবেশন করেন সুরবাহার। রাগ দরবারি কানাড়াতে আলাপ, জোড় আলাপ, ঝালা এবং গৎ বাজিয়ে শোনান তিনি। এরপর পিলু রাগে ঠুমরী বাজিয়ে শেষ করেন তার পরিবেশনা। শিল্পীকে তবলায় সহযোগিতা করেন পণ্ডিত যোগেশ শামসী। ইরশাদ খানকে উৎসব স্মারক তুলে দেন শিল্পী রেজওয়ানা চৌধুরী বন্যা। এরপর ছিলো সামিহান কশলকর এর পরিবেশনা। তিনি গেয়েছেন রাগ যোগ এবং মিশ্র চারুকেশী রাগে দাদরা। শিল্পীকে তবলায় সহযোগিতা করেন সুরেশ তালওয়ালকার এবং হারমোনিয়ামে অজয় যোগলেকার। তানপুরায় ছিলেন তালহা বিন আলী ও উৎপল রায়। পরিবেশনা শেষে শিল্পীকে উৎসব স্মারক প্রদান করেন প্রফেসর শামীমা পারভীন। পরবর্তী পরিবেশনা ছিলো ওস্তাদ সুজাত খান এর। তিনি রাগ রাগেশ্রীতে আলাপ জোড় ঝালা এবং আমির খসরুর কম্পোজিশনে গজল পরিবেশন করেন। শিল্পীকে তবলায় সহযোগিতা করেন অমিত চৌবে ও স্বপন আনজারিয়া। তানপুরায় ছিলেন কৌশিক আহমেদ। পরিবেশনা শেষে শিল্পীর হাতে উৎসব স্মারক তুলে দেন ব্যারিস্টার মওদুদ আহমেদ। এরপর মঞ্চে আসেন ওস্তাদ রশিদ খান। তিনি রাগ যোগকোশ পরিবেশন করেন। বিখ্যাত গান ‘নায়না আপনি পিয়া সে লাগায় রে’ এবং বিখ্যাত ঠুমরী রাগ ভিন্ন ষড়জে ‘ইয়াদ পিয়া কি আয়ে’ গেয়ে শোনান তিনি। শিল্পীকে তানপুরায় সহযোগিতা করেন অভিজিৎ কুণ্ডু। পরিবেশনা শেষে ওস্তাদ রশিদ খানকে উৎসব স্মারক প্রদান করেন অর্থমন্ত্রী আবুল মাল আবদুল মুহিত। বেঙ্গল উচ্চাঙ্গসংগীত উৎসব ২০১৫-এর সর্বশেষ পরিবেশনা ছিলো পণ্ডিত হরিপ্রসাদ চৌরাসিয়ার। তিনি বাঁশিতে রাগ কিরওয়ানি বাজিয়ে শোনান। এরপর রাগ জৈত রূপক ও তিনতালে বাজান। এরপর তিনি ভাটিয়ালি ধুন বাজিয়ে তার পরিবেশনা শেষ করেন। তানপুরীতে ছিলেন পুস্পঞ্জলী। তবলায় সহযোগিতা করেন শুভঙ্কর ব্যানার্জী, পাখওয়াজে পণ্ডিত ভবানী শংকর। হরিপ্রসাদ চৌরাসিয়াকে উৎসব স্মারক প্রদান করেন সংস্কৃতিমন্ত্রী আসাদুজ্জামান নূর এবং বেঙ্গল ফাউন্ডেশনের চেয়ারম্যান আবুল খায়ের। পণ্ডিত হরিপ্রসাদ চৌরাসিয়ার বাঁশির সুরে শেষ হলো বেঙ্গল উচ্চাঙ্গসংগীত উৎসব এর এবারের আয়োজন। বেঙ্গল ফাউন্ডেশন আয়োজিত বেঙ্গল উচ্চাঙ্গসংগীত উৎসব ২০১৫- এর নিবেদক স্কয়ার গ্রুপ। আয়োজন সমর্থন করছে ব্র্যাক ব্যাংক লিমিটেড। উৎসব পাওয়ারড বাই রবি আজিয়াটা লিমিটেড। অনুষ্ঠানের সম্প্রচার সহযোগী মাছরাঙা টেলিভিশন। মিডিয়া পার্টনার আইস বিজনেস টাইমস, আইস টুডে ও বেঙ্গল বারতা। আতিথেয়তা সহযোগী লা মেরিডিয়ান চিত্রশিল্পী কাইয়ুম চৌধুরীকে। গত তিন বছর ধরে আয়োজিত বেঙ্গল উচ্চাঙ্গ সংগীত উৎসব শিল্পী ও দর্শকদের অংশগ্রহণের নিরিখে এরই মধ্যে এই উপমহাদেশের তথা বিশ্বের সর্বাধিক বড় পরিসরের উচ্চাঙ্গসংগীতের আসর হিসেবে স্বীকৃতি পেয়েছে। প্রায় দুইশ জন সংগীত ও নৃত্যশিল্পী এবার অংশ নিয়েছেন আয়োজনে।
