A Pilgrimage for Peace
Art critic Mijarul Quayes has written: ‘It is not enough to look at Kazi Ghiyas’ works…these demand immersion. ..each second look brings to the surface intricate details that populate the canvas. These details, fleshed out in a flat two dimensional space, nevertheless creates a sense of depth…..amazing linear embellishments in-between, along with forms familiar and unfamiliar. The painstakingly laid layer upon subtle layer of paint is embellished by linear spectacles that create intricate meshes for the matrix. If one were to stand on front of an artwork on display at the current exhibition, he would be struck by the brilliant marble-like effect that stares from the canvas. And then, he would look deep and discover (and appreciate) the elaborate attention that Kazi Ghiyas has given to create that larger than life matrix.’ Kazi Ghiyas (b. 1951, Madaripur) receives a doctoral degree in fine arts from the National Fine Arts University of Tokyo. His masterful oils and watercolours have earned him a special place in the international art circle.
