Quest for Life

The exhibition showcased the works of six promising Bangladeshi artists, who were (at the time of the exhibition) in the process of completing their formal training at Dhaka University’s Institute of Fine Arts. Najmun Nahar Keya (b. 1980, Dhaka), from the department of Drawing and Painting, has a penchant for watercolour and acrylic, which she handles with an exciting panache. Shahid Kazi (b. 1980, Munshiganj), also from the same department, enjoys working in mixed media to produce figurative work with an expressionist edge. Mohammad Razaul Sadat (b. 1979) and Sadek Ahmed (b. 1979, Kishoreganj) , both trained in the department of Printmaking, evince an interest in character and expression. Md. Azmaluddin (b. 1982, Barguna), who has specialized in Graphic Design, is an enthusiastic colourist, whether he is working in oils or producing woodcuts. Bishwajit Goswami (b. 1981, Netrokona) in his oils and woodcuts achieves an expressive realism with remarkable sureness of touch. The exhibition, held at the Weaver’s Studio in Kolkata, was aimed at introducing the works of the young artists to the Kolkata audience.
