Transformer: Extra-ordinary Worlds from everyday Materials

The exhibition was the outcome of a series of workshops by British Council Artist in Residence Clare Mitten,
using everyday materials and found objects to make temporary artworks that were then subjected to a series of
transformations. Claire studied at the Royal College of Art (MA Painting, 2004 – 2006), the University of
Gloucestershire, (BA Hons Fine Art Painting, 1998 – 2001) and the University of Sussex (BA Hons History of Art
with French, 1990-1994). The resulting work in her workshops with the students of the Institute of Fine Arts,
University of Dhaka, had a playfulness- poetic sleights of hand and juxtapositions that were humorous and
quirky.
