Exhibition Press release: 60, Gulshan Avenue (Ground floor) Road 131, Circle 1 Dhaka 1212. Open daily 12 – 8 PM PRESS RELEASE ‘REALMS OF MEMORY’, a solo exhibition of paintings and drawings by BIPASHA HAYAT at BENGAL ART LOUNGE  Saturday 8 to Saturday 29 August, 2015 Bengal Art Lounge is delighted to announce the inauguration of ‘Realms of Memory’, a solo exhibition of paintings and drawings by Bipasha Hayat on Saturday 8 August at 6pm. HE Lee Yun-young, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Bangladesh, and Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam, English Department, Dhaka University will jointly inaugurate the exhibition. Bipasha Hayat (b. 1971, Dhaka) studied painting and drawing at the Institute of Fine Arts, University of Dhaka (MFA 1998). A polymorphous artist, she has since pursued a successful career as an actress and playwright alongside her initial vocation as a visual artist. In “Realms of Memory”, Bipasha endeavours to translate the emotions contained in forgotten memories through abstraction. Bipasha Hayat uses a wide-ranging palette of colors to compose her abstract artworks. Her distinctive painting technique combines the application of color with the scratching of selected parts of the painted surface in a symbolic attempt to penetrate to the essence of memory and to awake the feelings it contains. The floating forms in my works reflect the broken particles of my memory the painter explains. And the lines that separate them evoke my present existence. The canvas provides a space to relate to both times, past and present, and to connect with my basic emotions. The exhibition will continue until Saturday 29th August, 2015 and will be open daily from 12-8pm.
