Mindscape

Syed Iqbal’s canvases were like a personal diary that recorded, in an unbridled manner, feelings of joy and happiness, anguish and anger. The paintings were done in strong colours suggesting their grounding in a world of intense feelings. Born in 1953, in Chittagong, Syed Iqbal is a writer, painter and illustrator. He received a diploma in fine arts from the Platt Graphic & Art College, LA (1989-90), and later took several courses in modern painting, in India and Canada. He received the Best Illustrator Award (1990) and Best Book Cover Design Award (1996) from the National Book Centre. He lives and works in Toronto, Canada.
