Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts was established in April 2000 to provide a congenial venue for cultural events. In its amazingly successful run, the gallery has showcased the work of over 260 local and international artists, published catalogues and produced 40 documentary films on art. An important part of the gallery’s work is aimed at presenting Bangladesh’s art in international forums and this it has done successfully in Brussels, Tokyo, Kolkata, Dubai, Toronto and New York. The gallery organizes international art camps, workshops and seminars, and supports local art organizations.
A repertoire of initiatives favouring the development and nurture of visual art, music, publication and theatre form the backbone of Bengal Foundation’s endeavour to share with others, the richness and diversity of Bangladesh’s cultural wealth.
Bengal Gallery is pleased to present jointly with South Asian Gallery of Art, an exhibition titled ‘From Dhaka with Love: Contemporary Art from Bangladesh’ in Toronto, Canada. The exhibition features the works of 14 artists portraying the diversity and vitality of Bangladesh art. The show testifies to the ease and facility of our new artists as much as the capacity of the senior practitioners to constantly evolve. The current exhibition offers a representative sampling of this fascinating repertoire.
We are grateful to Mr. Ali Adil Khan, Director of South Asian Gallery of Art in Toronto for curating and organising the exhibition.
We hope the exhibition will generate interest among art enthusiasts.
