Code Love

The Bengal Art Lounge and Carefountain invited the public to celebrate Valentine’s Day at ‘Code:Love’, an interactive exhibition. The works to be presented in the 5-day exhibition are QR and bar codes with encrypted messages and images. Code:Love is designed to encourage visitors to participate in and connect with the exhibits using smart phones and code scanners. As the ever-expanding reach of technologically-enabled instant gratification melds with an emerging urban culture of exhibitionism, the ways in which love is expressed and understood are being transformed. The days of waiting for a letter from a loved one abroad have been replaced by immediate iMessages and phone tracking devices. This show will unravel and examine some of these changes. Bengal Art Lounge, Carefountain and a team of collaborators have created an exhibition of encrypted messages and audio-visual installations. In the medium of each work is the message; the codes, sounds and lights are all statements on the commercialization of romance and the role of technology in human relationships. The unconventional presentation, is made to ‘grab both peoples’ hearts and minds’. The exhibition is an affirmation of the power of art to benefit the lives of those closest to us, our family, the elderly – those in need of more love than we might even imagine. Carefountain, an enterprise committed to social good, believes that art has a social obligation. All of the proceeds from Code:Love will be donated to build a home for the elderly. The Code:Love Shop will be open to visitors wishing to buy Valentine’s Day gifts from February 12 onwards. The Code:Love exhibition will be inaugurated on Thursday, 13 February.
