Quest for Self
Artist Qayyum Chowdhury is a prominent figure in the domain of art in Bangladesh through his enthusiastic commitment and practice of it. His art gives life to the hopes and aspirations, as well as the sheer will to survive, that reside in the hearts of the people. His use of colors, style, his connections to his roots, as well as his empathy for the nation’s ‘soul’ make him an artist nonpareil. Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts was honoured to celebrate the artist’s 80th birth anniversary on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 6:00 pm at its premises. A fortnight-long exhibition of his paintings titled, ‘Quest for Self’ had been arranged from March 9. The exhibition was inaugurated by his peer and artist, Murtaja Baseer, distinguished writer Syed Shamsul Haq, educationist Professor Anisuzzaman and cultural personality Ramendu Majumder. Family, friends and well-wishers were welcome to attend and wish the artist a creative and rewarding life.
