Artist Mohammad Kibria, an icon of modernism in Bangladesh art, passed away on 7 June 2011. Through his pioneering role in our modern art movement and with his versatile creative vision, he has taken our art to newer heights.
We mourn his loss with heavy hearts.
To pay our respect to the great artist, Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts had organised a ten-day special exhibition titled Tribute to Mohammad Kibria comprising his works from the collections of Mr. Matiur Rahman, Editor, the daily Prothom Alo, and Mr. Abul Khair, Chairman, Bengal Foundation.
Begum Jahanara Abedin inaugurated the exhibition and launched the Kibria Issue of the literary magazine Kali O Kalam on 22 July 2011, Friday, at 6 p.m. Artist Qayyum Chowdhury, Professor Borhanuddin Khan Jahangir, Professor Syed Manzoorul Islam and Mr. Abul Hasnat discussed Mohammad Kibria’s contribution to Bangladesh art.
