Stimulated Luminescence

Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts hosted a ten-day long Solo Art Exhibition titled “Stimulated Luminescence” by artist Juneer Kibria with the inaugural ceremony on 5 January 2009, Monday at 5:30 pm at Bengal Shilpalaya. Eminent artist Qayyum Chowdhury inaugurated the exhibition while artists Rafiqun Nabi and Monirul Islam were present as special guests. Daily from 12 pm – 8 pm.

Building on the main theme of his first show Fragile where he focused on the excavation and fragility of memories, Juneer Kibria continues to unearth multiple layers of meaning. In the exhibition, he took on a more polarized approach by using two distinct styles to describe the psychological impact of sickness, one with a more abstract body of work and second with a more technical and representational body of work.
Kibria (b. 1980, Dhaka) obtained a degree in printmaking from the Wittenberg University in Ohio, USA, in 2003. The same year he won the Ralston P Thomas award for excellence in the field of fine arts. Kibria is a freelance artist residing in the US.
