Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York
Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts, Dhaka, had gotten Booth – 154 at the Asian Contemporary Art Fair New York to show their distinctive collection of paintings by leading Bangladeshi painters.
Bengal Foundation, a private trust, is dedicated to the promotion and development of art and culture in Bangladesh. One of a kind in the country, the Foundation was established in the late 80s. In order to provide a congenial venue for cultural events, the Foundation established the Bengal Shilpalaya in April 2000, of which the Bengal Gallery of Fine Arts is a part. In its amazingly successful run the Gallery has showcased the work of over 250 local and international artists to date, and has published 200 brochures and 35 documentary films on art. In a bid to promote and educate the general public, the Foundation does not charge any entry fee for the events it hosts. It also lends support to local art organizations. Since 2000 the Gallery has organised 6 international art camps with the participation of local and foreign artists. Collaboration has always been our key operating word. Of late, we have organized, in collaboration with the British Council, a series of exhibitions featuring original works of sculptor Henry Moore and other noteworthy British artists. We would like to thank the organizing committee of Asian Contemporary Art Fair NY for giving us the opportunity to participate in this prestigious event. We hope this will stimulate interest in Bangladesh’s contemporary art.
