Mohammad Golam Faruque Bebul
1958 – 2020
Mohammad Golam Faruque, known to everyone as ‘Bebul’, was born in Jamalpur, Bangladesh, in 1958. He was a Professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Rajshahi. He did his MFA from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing, in 1985. Before that he completed his BFA in Printmaking from the Bangladesh College of Arts and Crafts. Bebul’s abstract expressionist style drew the attention of critics and connoisseurs, and he went on to win the Bengal Foundation Award in the eighteenth National Art Exhibition organised by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in 2009. He was the Principal of the College of Arts and Crafts at Rajshahi, from 1986 to 1994.He was founding Chair of the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Rajshahi, from 1995 to 1998. Mohammad Golam Faruque passed away in 2020.
