TÓPION

Mahbubur Rahman’s third book ‘Topion’ is a reflection of his memories of Old Dhaka, and how the city transformed within his lifetime. The evolution of the city is illustrated through metaphorical allusions to the little boys Prastar, Bingo and Guddu.
Looking out of the window, the boys have a limited view of the world beyond their familiar territory. Their world is only as big as the reach of their vision. The images in the book are views from Rahman and Lipi’s house, through the eyes of Prastar, Guddu, Bingo and Gunda (the puppy that they lost). These are the central characters, along with a few imaginary ones, blended with some drawn from memory. The artist tried to express his feelings through ten poems written across the images.
