The literary monthly Kali O Kalam and the world’s local bank HSBC have jointly launched Tarun Kabo O Lekhak Puraskar to encourage and inspire literary practice among young poets and writers of Bangladesh. The competition for the award was first held in 2008.
Works published between July of one year and June of the next, by poets and writers between the ages of 18 to 40 years, are eligible for the competition. In 2009, the prizes were given in two categories – Poetry and Creative Writing.

The event was held at Shahid Zia Milanayatan, National Musuem, Shahbag on 7 April 2009, featuring chief guest, Finance Minister, A M A Muhit.
