Abul Hasnat, editor of Kali O Kalam and Shilpa O Shilpi, receives Bangla Academy Fellowship 2013.
Noted journalist, writer and cultural commentator AbulHasnat brought with him four decades of experience when he joined as editor of the monthly literary magazine Kali O Kalam, in 2003. For the better part of his career he was associated with the distinguished Bengali daily, Sangbad, as the editor of its its Literary page. The much sought-after weekly literature supplement of Sangbad played a significant role in promoting new writers and influencing trends in Bengali writing.
As the editor of the longest running literary magazine Kali O Kalam (in Bangladesh), and the newly published arts quarterly Shilpa O Shilpi ,Hasnat has created an all-important platform for exploring current trends in arts and literature. He heads Bengal Publication, a premier publisher of new writing in Bengali and English. Hasnat has authored a book on Safiuddin Ahmed, published by Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. He has contributed to the Great Masters and Contemporary Masters of Bangladesh series of books published by renowned Italian publisher SKIRA and Bengal Foundation. He writes under the pen-name Mahmud Al-Zaman. Hasnat received the Bangla Academy Fellowship in 2013.
